Product Overview:
An exquisite 19th-century French Sèvres-style porcelain cabinet/display plate of exceptional artistry and historical elegance. The central medallion features a finely hand-painted miniature portrait of Françoise-Louise de La Baume Le Blanc, Duchesse de La Vallière (the famed favourite of King Louis XIV), depicted with soft ringlets and framed within an ornate, raised rococo gilt cartouche.

The cavetto is adorned with a delicate entwined pink ribbon intertwined with polychrome floral garlands and forget-me-nots, surmounted by an elaborate royal coronet. The border is finished in the iconic Rose Pompadour (Rose Dubarry) ground, embellished with heavy raised rococo acanthus scrolling, delicate floral bouquets, and fine scalloped gilding.

The reverse bears the blue interlaced ‘LL’ mark with date letter, artist/decorator monogram ‘L.G.’, and the blue script inscription “Duchesse de la Vallière”, alongside an original antique collection/auction label noting: “948 Late Sèvres Plate, rose Dubarry border, with portrait in the centre of the Duchesse de l. Valliere”.
